Mountain Rose
The Mountain Rose is a small-hall concert series featuring local and regional artists with more talent than exposure. We pride ourselves on presenting high-quality performances to an audience that really LISTENS. That is the beauty of a concert setting. Our performers are primarily acoustic artists, mostly in the folk, traditional, and singer-songwriter categories. The concerts are run in Kent, Ohio, with the normal season running October through May.

Bob Sammon and Kevin Eblen

February 10th, 2019

sammonBob Sammon will be making his fourth appearance on the Mountain Rose stage in February. According to the Dayton Daily News, "When Bob Sammon picks up his Guild dreadnought guitar his song rings out, a story set to music.” With his roots in New York and honing his musical craft in Southwest Ohio, Bob now resides in Cleveland and performs for audiences young and old alike. Bob is deeply involved in music on the North Coast whether he’s performing in concert halls and taverns, for benefits or in schools. He promotes folk music all over northeast Ohio. His shows feature original music that many listeners have called “heart-felt” while others say it truly comes “from the heart” telling stories both personal and universal. This appearance as part of the Mountain Rose Concert series will feature songs from his first CD, Here’s To You Friends, along with new songs composed since its release and scheduled for inclusion on the next record. This short video will give you a glimpse of the variety of music you’ll hear in an hour spent in concert with Bob Sammon.

KevinKevin Eblen Hello! I have been a performer in the Northeastern Ohio area for all of my adult life. Also a member of Summit County Songwriters Circle for around 10 years.
Originally from Hartville, Ohio, I joined up with fellow students Jerry, Mark, Kenny and Beth to form the band Pony Up. We were together for approximately 15 years and have recently reunited under the same name. In between this time I have played in a rock and roll band called Jacoby Road with a wonderful Australian sax player named Graham Broomfield. We had two of our original songs receive moderate success from radio play out of Melbourne. Later, along with three lovely ladies and a wonderful percussionist, we formed a old style swing band called The Short Lane Jam Band.
Fast forward to present and I can be found performing a solo show along with life size silhouettes of band members, with the intent of entertaining the retirement communities. I use backing tracks but make no mistake I still sing, play my own guitar and harmonica along with audience participation of singing and dancing. It is designed to be more of a Broadway show than a karaoke night out. Yes, I wear a suit and, yes, I am a crooner. With famous tunes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis and Neil Diamond I will take you back to a magical time in our musical history.

Brian Henke

Brian
Brian Henke composes and performs his music like a painter putting images on canvas, drawing his inspiration from the world around him. An avid hiker, he often brings his guitar along to create a spontaneous response to his outdoor settings. Mother Earth (Terra) as artist has given an immense living gallery from the humbling spectacle of her natural wonders to the simple, beauty of a treetop against a blue sky. Her majestic legacy and the magical feeling of awe and peace inspire the compositions of this award winning virtuosic fingerstyle guitarist.
